How long will it take to get my credit repaired?
Home prices and interest rates are really low where I live but according to some sites I've looked at, I'd need to increase my credit score by about 70 points to get a good rate. People are saying that home prices are going to start to go up again this summer so I want to know if it would be possible to repair my credit score in a couple of months so I can get into a house before prices go up.Answers...
It depends entirely on your current credit situation. If you have years of irresponsible credit management in your past, don't be surprised if it takes a year or more to right the ship. It took time to wreck your credit score and it will take time to fix it.
Conversely, if your credit score is okay already and you only need to increase it by a few dozen points, you may be able to accomplish your goal in a matter of a few weeks by paying down some debts, restructuring your credit accounts, becoming an authorized user on an established account, or getting one of your creditors to stop reporting a negative item like a late payment on your credit report.
