It is possible to remove a bankruptcy from a credit report, even if you really did declare bankruptcy. don't, however, expect it to be easy and be warned that no matter how hard you work at it, there is no guarantee that you will be successful. In fact, you probably won't and it may be a better use of your time to devote your resources towards rebuilding your credit instead of trying to repair it.

That said, bankruptcies like any other negative item on your credit report can be disputed if you feel they are inaccurate, misleading, unverifiable, biased, etc. Basically, if you feel a bankruptcy is unfairly damaging your credit score and others' perception of your credit worthiness, you have the right to dispute it.

The trick with bankruptcies is to dispute and remove all items listed as "Included in Bankruptcy" first. As long as they are on your credit reports you will not be able to get the bankruptcy removed because each included item verifies the existence of the actual bankruptcy. Once each of these are removed, you can dispute the bankruptcy itself and since it doesn't make sense for a person to have a bankruptcy without any items included in that bankruptcy, at this point you have a good chance of getting your bankruptcy removed.

As for how long it will take, assuming you are successful at removing the bankruptcy at all, don't be suprised if the whole process takes a year or more.
